A family companion who became a true champion
Every family has a story, and ours begins with a special boy and an extraordinary dog.
Our son David, who has Down syndrome, was regularly visited by therapy dogs, gentle and kind-hearted Labradors that brought him endless joy. Watching those moments, we realized just how deep his bond was with these wonderful animals.
So, five years ago, we decided to welcome one into our own family. Archibald arrived as a lively, curious, and slightly mischievous Labrador puppy who instantly filled our home with laughter.
At first, we only wanted a companion for David, but fate had something much bigger in store for us. After just a few training sessions, our trainer looked at us and said: "This dog is a genius. You should try the retriever sport with him."
We had no idea that was just the beginning of something truly special.
From those first playful steps, Archibald grew into an extraordinary dog, talented, determined, and endlessly loyal. What started as a family companion soon became a true champion.
Archibald is one of those dogs, who catches everyone's eye as he enters the room: a strong-built, but still very agile, stunning dog. His majestic appearance is combined with a very honest, adventurous, curious, playful personality until it is time to work. Then his focus shifts immediately and the job comes first. This focused and result oriented attitude makes it easy to work with him. A real team player, who can also work independently when needed. The outstanding ability to find the prey (his scent is never at fault) and his passion for hunting makes him an excellent hunting dog.
As a green handler with our very first retriever, Archibald achieved 3 x CACIT, 2 x RCACIT, and 3 x CAC show wins. As a stud dog, he sired 15 litters and over 100 healthy, wonderful puppies across Europe, each carrying a piece of his gentle spirit and exceptional character.
Nevertheless he is a lovely dog, who brings an incredible amount of joy into his family's life. But beyond all the titles and achievements, Archibald has remained exactly who he was meant to be: David's loyal friend and our beloved family member.
